Radio Free Asia (RFA) is seeking a polished, organized, and detail-oriented administrative professional to support its Editorial leadership as an Executive Assistant in its Washington, DC, headquarters.

 Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing executive and administrative support to Executive Editor and senior editorial leadership.
  • Assisting Executive Editor in providing a full range of administrative duties, such as handling correspondence, arranging meetings, maintaining files, and facilitating the operation of the Editorial department.
  • Preparing, collecting and drafting reports, memoranda, letters, announcements and other written material; reviewing such material for format, content and accuracy.
  • Arranging, planning and maintaining the Executive Editor and senior editorial leadership’s travel, vacation, schedules, meetings, special projects, and expense records and ensuring follow-up on all action items.  
  • Managing, coordinating and implementing the Editorial Department’s award submissions each year across the entire spectrum of the company’s products, content and achievements; including but not limited to maintaining a year-round calendar of competitions and deadlines and maintaining awareness of each department and each language service’s most impactful, innovative and critical work product. Working intimately with both leadership and content producers throughout the year to ensure the company receives proper external recognition for its accomplishments.
  • Working with the senior editorial leadership to manage and coordinate reports on issues, challenges, highlights and impact of Radio Free Asia.
  • Supporting the senior editorial leadership's communications with other departments.  
  • Ensuring that the Editorial Department’s timesheets are processed and approved every two weeks.
  • Performing other duties as requested in support of the Executive Editor and the senior editorial leadership. 

 Qualifications:

  • Prior experience providing administrative support for executives in an office environment strongly preferred. A newsroom experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, work ethic and ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills both in a written and verbal form.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English required; proficiency in one or more RFA broadcast languages is preferred. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently under one's own initiative.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency with MS Office and Google Workspace.
